Towards Proof Synthesis Guided by Neural Machine Translation for Intuitionistic Propositional Logic

چکیده
Inspired by the recent evolution of deep neural networks (DNNs) in machine learning, we explore their application to PL-related topics. This paper is the first step towards this goal; we propose a proofsynthesis method for the negation-free propositional logic in which we use a DNN to obtain a guide of proof search. The idea is to view the proof-synthesis problem as a translation from a proposition to its proof. We train seq2seq, which is a popular network in neural machine translation, so that it generates a proof encoded as a λ-term of a given proposition. We implement the whole framework and empirically observe that a generated proof term is close to a correct proof in terms of the tree edit distance of AST. This observation justifies using the output from a trained seq2seq model as a guide for proof search.

Truth Values and Connectives in Some Non-Classical Logics
The question as to whether the propositional logic of Heyting, which was a formalization of Brouwer's intuitionistic logic, is finitely many valued or not, was open for a while (the question was asked by Hahn). Kurt Gödel (1932) introduced an infinite decreasing chain of intermediate logics, which are known nowadays as Gödel logics, for showing that the intuitionistic logic is not finitely (man...
متن کاملFrom focussed proof systems to complexity bounds
We conduct a complexity-theoretic study of focussed proof systems, relating the alternation of synchronous and asynchronous phases in a proof to an appropriate alternating time hierarchy, for instance the polynomial hierarchy. We propose a notion of ‘over-focussing’ that admits non-branching invertible rules during synchronous phases, due to the fact that deterministic computations can equally ...

In 1979 Richard Statman proved, using proof-theory, that the purely implicational fragment of Intuitionistic Logic (M→) is PSPACE-complete. He showed a polynomialy bounded translation from full Intuitionistic Propositional Logic into its implicational fragment. By the PSPACEcompleteness of S4, proved by Ladner, and the Gödel translation from S4 into Intuitionistic Logic, the PSPACE-completeness...

We present a proof system for the Java bytecode language based on a Curry-Howard isomorphism for machine code, where an executable code is regarded as a proof of a variant of a sequent calculus of the intuitionistic propositional logic. Diierent from type systems for Java bytecode so far proposed, our proof system not only speciies type consistency but also represents the computation denoted by...
